Choose the Right Finish for Your Pool

Aqua Pool Finishes installs multiple resurfacing systems, so you can compare plaster, quartz, pebble and EcoFinish® based on appearance, texture, maintenance, durability and budget—not just one product.

Marcite Plaster

The classic pool finish. White marble dust and white Portland cement create a smooth, bright surface that's been trusted for decades. Ideal for new construction and full resurfacing.

Classic Standard

Quartz Plaster

Enhanced durability and a refined appearance. Quartz aggregate creates a more stain-resistant, longer-lasting finish with a subtle sparkle that elevates any pool's aesthetic.

Enhanced Durability

Pebble-Tec

Premium pebble aggregate finish that's as beautiful as it is tough. The natural river pebbles create a textured, slip-resistant surface that is known for durability and comes in natural color blends.

A High-Performance Thermoplastic Pool Coating

ecoFINISH® aquaBRIGHT™ was developed as a long-lasting thermoplastic alternative designed to address common problems associated with traditional pool finishes. Born in 2008, ecoFINISH® has a global presence. Aqua Pool Finishes is Currently the only pool resurfacing company actively applying EcoFinish® in North Texas and East Texas.

How It Works

aquaBRIGHT™ is a thermal plastic coating applied pneumatically using a specialized air-powered gun-type applicator. The raw material — a dry powder — is propelled through the applicator, heated, and bonded directly onto the pool surface. The material dries almost instantaneously, creating a smooth, durable, non-porous finish that is fully cured the moment the job is done.

Unlike masonry finishes, which require a two-week "Hot-Start" startup process involving muriatic acid, aquaBRIGHT™ uses a simple "Balance and Swim" startup. Fill the pool, balance the water chemistry, and swim — it's that simple. You can even heat the pool immediately after filling.

Why Pool Owners Choose EcoFinish

No hot-start or muriatic acid — just fill and swim the same day
pH-neutral surface — drastically reduces chemical use and balancing time
Non-porous finish — resists algae, staining, and bacteria penetration
Designed for long-lasting color — helps maintain a more uniform appearance over time
UV & chemical resistant — engineered to withstand harsh Texas sun and pool chemicals
Options for multiple pool types — aquaBRIGHT™ for concrete pools and polyFIBRO® for fiberglass pools
Soft "orange peel" texture — smooth but not slick, gentle on swimmers' feet
Slip-resistant option available for steps, benches, and beach entries
Acid-wash safe — won't be damaged by acid washing like traditional finishes
No waiting to fill — no need to truck in water to protect a curing finish
One flat price — every standard color is the same price, so pick what you love
Reduced startup demands — avoids the traditional plaster startup process and its associated acid treatment

"Remember 20+ years ago when pebble finishes changed the way pools look? aquaBRIGHT changes the look of pools and pool water again."

Experience Behind the Advice

Meet Matt Phillips

Matt began his landscaping career in 1995, has been hydromulching since 1999, and expanded into pool construction in 2001. He has since worked on more than 500 pools, from resurfacing and renovation to complete custom design and construction.

His experience spans North Texas, Houston and Colorado and includes plaster, quartz, pebble and EcoFinish® systems. His approach is practical: understand how a homeowner will actually use the pool, inspect what is happening beneath the surface, and recommend the finish and preparation method that fit the project—not simply the easiest product to sell.

“Most people call when it’s already past time to resurface. My job is to explain what we’re seeing, what the options are, and what makes sense for that pool.” — Matt Phillips
Answers From the Field

Ask Matt

Straightforward answers based on decades of pool construction, renovation and resurfacing experience. Manufacturer specifications are identified separately from Matt’s field observations.

How do I know when my pool needs resurfacing?

Matt looks first at the waterline tile and existing finish for discoloration, deterioration and visible signs of delamination. Unexplained water loss can also signal a problem worth investigating.

What’s the best pool finish?

There is no single answer for every budget. Matt generally compares marcite plaster, quartz, pebble and EcoFinish® by upfront cost, texture, maintenance, appearance and expected service life.

Does EcoFinish® only last 10 years?

No—the 10-year figure refers to ecoFINISH’s limited residential product warranty, not an expiration date. Matt’s field experience is that properly installed coatings can remain serviceable beyond the warranty period; actual life varies by pool, substrate, installation and maintenance.

Project Financing

Financing Options for Pool Resurfacing & Renovation

A needed pool renovation does not always arrive on the same schedule as the household budget. Third-party home-improvement financing may be available for qualified homeowners who prefer to spread project costs over time.

Aqua Pool Finishes is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. Rates, terms, eligibility, loan amounts and funding are determined by the financing provider and may change.
